My name is Jennine and I am the photographer at Tender Expressions Photography. My story I find is quite unique but one I love to tell. When people receive gifts they may think of nicely wrapped boxes with bows and something exciting inside! To me photography is a gift of a different kind and until 2008 it was something that never even entered my mind in doing as a profession.
Before 2008 I was like a lot of people out there, I brought my point and shoot camera out for occasions, to get pictures of my kids or take on vacation. My step-dad was into photography and he loved taking shots of landscapes and wildlife, but I could never really understand the fascination. After all, it's "just pictures" I thought.
In March of 2008 my perspective suddenly began to change. My step-dad who had such an interest in photography, suddenly passed away of a heart attack in the middle of the Toronto airport and my family was hit with shock, like any family would be. After a little time had gone by and we were rummaging through his belongings and my mom had asked me if I wanted his camera. I accepted it thinking it was more the reminder to me of his passion for photography, not really thinking I would use it a whole lot. I took it home, I played with it, I started taking pictures of my kids, and from that moment on it seems I haven't been able to put a camera down. Along with this camera not only came so many memories but I truly believe it came with the passion for photography from my step-dad to me. It's one of the greatest gifts I have ever received. As well since that occurance I have realized that "just pictures" are so important and you want to make sure you capture the memories because life is so precious.
Since that time my passion for photography has continued to grow, I began taking pictures, not of landscapes and wildlife but of families, children and special moments. I went to school for photography, I am building my experience with every session I have and I am loving every minute of it. Word has spread and my clients have been amazing! It feels to awesome that I can share this gift that was given to me with so many others and I now can capture memories not only for my family but for all those who cross my photography path, one picture at a time!
